It is with regret that we have to announce Planes of Eldlor will no longer be updating. This comic has been a labor of love, updating every week for almost the past three years, and has been in the works for more than five years. The trouble is, we're as frustrated as you are with an epic story that's only able to update once per week, and will likely keep up the same slow pace for many years to come. We tried to run a marathon before we learned to walk a mile. It has become a huge time sink, and we're no longer creating - we're stagnating. We have carried on with these thoughts in mind for several months now, ignoring the elephant in the room which was telling us "you can't keep going on like this".
We hate having to spring this on everyone, but we feel the break has to be quick and clean. The time spent making Planes of Eldlor can be spent on other art endeavors - on sculpture and other crafts, on digital painting and artwork, on short-term projects like the coloring book, and short story comics that can be released in their entirety rather than in piecemeal.
To be clear, for the Planes of Eldlor webcomic, this is not a hiatus, this is an end.
For those of you who have stuck with us through this journey, we appreciate everything you've done for us. Thank you for reading, thank you for voting, thank you for the comments (both complimentary and constructively critical) you've left over the years. This has been a tremendous learning process for both of us. We're happy to have shared it with you.
For many, we know this probably means goodbye. If so, fare well, and thank you once again. However, for those who wish to stay informed of our future projects and convention appearances, you can do so via the Red Nebula Studios website or RSS feed. If you'd like to keep up with Sarrah's artwork, the best place is on her deviantArt account. She'll also be posting when she does new work on Twitter.
P.S. We're not going to release the story details of the remainder of Planes of Eldlor at this time. We are still passionate about our story, our characters, and our world. There's a good chance it will reappear in another form. If that does happen, it will be released as a completed story, not in once-a-week chunks as we're doing now. Again, keep an eye on the Red Nebula Studios website for future details.
Nightlyre: The new Red Nebula Studios website is live! Apr 17th, 2013 | PermalinkThe brand new Red Nebula Studios website is now live. The new site features my fantasy artwork, as well as crafts, costumes, tutorials and more!
Nightlyre and Leezard: Planes of Eldlor Comments (26) | Jul 22nd, 2012 | PermalinkWe're sorry to announce that Planes of Eldlor will no longer be updating. Please see the site's homepage for details as to why we came to this decision.
Robbie (Leezard) and I (Nightlyre) wish you all the best. Sketch: Tali
My *coughdigitalcough* painting mood continues! Another piece of Mass Effect fanart (Tali this time), though it was also another good chance to indulge in some fun cloud-and-sea painting, with a sunset thrown in for good measure. I will say, if you haven't played ME but don't want to see spoilers, you might wish to avoid this one. Like the prior image of Garrus, the vote incentive is the sketch, and the final painting can be seen on deviantArt.
Also, if anyone's interested, I put up progress screenshots from both this painting (here) and the Ocean's Fury sea serpent from last week (here). I'll try to continue remembering to take screenshots as I work on these things. :) Page 160
I promised a dragon painting this week - and here he is! I went back to my sea serpent sketch that I put up as the incentive a couple of weeks ago. I'd intended to do my usual ink + color style on this one, but figured I'd try painting him instead and see how he turned out.
This one was done in about 10 hours total, not including the sketch. I'm working on getting faster at painting, focusing more on action and light than on small details. It certainly makes painting more fun!
